Hello. I’m having an issue with the OneDrive app on Android. Since September 1st, the app has stopped backing up photos from my phone’s gallery. It’s set up to back up specific folders, organizing them by year and date, and it worked perfectly until August 31st. After that, no images have been transferred to the cloud.

When I opened the app, the home page was only showing images up to August 31st. So, I decided to uninstall and reinstall the app, and remove the Microsoft account from the android settings, and the new images from September 01 to 11 appeared on my one drive home screen, but after login with my Microsoft account, now nothing appears anymore, only:

"Item cannot be displayed. Check your network connection..."

I’ve already tried the following steps, but none of them worked.

  • Clear APP and Cache Data
  • Reinstall
  • Remove Microsoft account from phone settings for a new clean login on one drive app.
  • Tested on another house Wi-Fi
  • Tested only on mobile data
  • Enable and disable only backup when charging
  • Set all permission on settings
  • Set unrestricted battery usage on settings

I’m not considering formatting my phone, because I’m sure the problem is not with it, and I also don’t have the patience to reconfigure all the other apps again.

We need an investigation into this issue, as it is a paid service for backing up precious images to the cloud.

    Hello Daniel,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community! I’m truly sorry to learn that you’re experiencing issues with your OneDrive. Thanks for the detailed report. Based on your issue with OneDrive for Android not backing up your gallery since September 1st, and the error message “Item cannot be displayed. Check your network connection…”, This issue seems to be affecting Samsung Galaxy S23 users running Android 15 / One UI 7.0, especially after recent updates. The error and backup failure may be due to A sync conflict between Samsung Gallery and OneDrive or corrupted cache/data or app permissions not fully resetting after reinstall or Account linking issues between Samsung and Microsoft accounts and a bug in OneDrive version 7.38 affecting gallery sync.

You can do is use the OneDrive Web App. Log in at onedrive.live.com to confirm if files are visible there. Sometimes the mobile app fails to display items that are actually uploaded. And Try Manual Upload, Open your Gallery or Files app then select recent photos and use Share > OneDrive to manually upload
