have reset firewall and am still receiving system failure when trying to ping gateway

I have Windows 11 Lenovo laptop
There was a VPN that was installing an update and stopped in the middle of the process. After that, I lost connectivity to internet but can still send and receive emails.
The VPN was uninstalled.
I reset the firewall via Windows Defender several times and restarted the device without success.
When I use the cmd to ping the gateway 192.168.1.1, i receive General failure error.
What is next step?
