Screen sharing works for a few minutes then drops during meetings

I am currently using Teams on Mac, 1.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5, Mac OS 15.5 (24F74). Microsoft Teams version 25212.2404.3875.1360.

I can initiate screensharing but after a few minutes, it automatically stops sharing, takes me back to the teams meeting screen. The duration of the screen sharing varies. Sometimes its 5 minutes, sometimes lesss. There seems to be no trend to this. It stops sharing when I am scrolling/interacting with items on the screen or even when I am not. Absolutely no trend in when it happens.

I have tried deleting Teams, restarting the computer then re-installing. I have tried checking Teams and my Mac for updates... nothing. This has been going on for about 2 months now

    Dear @Z33

I hope you're having a nice day. Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A forum and for sharing your concerns.

I understand how inconvenient it must be to experience screen sharing interruptions during Teams meetings on your Mac.

Based on your description, the issue may stem from network instability, limited hardware resources, or performance challenges with the Teams client itself. There are a few steps you can try that may help improve the experience:

1/ You can start by checking your network conditions. Screen sharing in Teams is sensitive to fluctuations in connectivity.

    Microsoft recommends keeping:

    • Roundtrip time should be under 200 ms.
    • Packet loss should be below 2%.
    • Bandwidth for screen sharing should ideally support up to 1.5 Mbps.

You can monitor these metrics using the Call Health feature in Teams:

During a meeting, click More actions (•••) > Settings > Call health to view real-time data.

2/ Next, ensure your Mac meets the performance requirements for Teams. Screen sharing can be resource-intensive, especially on older devices. If your Mac is under heavy load or running background applications, Teams may throttle or drop the session:

    • Close unnecessary apps during meetings.
    • Ensure your Mac is not overheating or running background tasks that consume resources.

3/ If you're using a VPN or third-party security software, consider disabling it temporarily to see if it affects screen sharing stability. These tools can sometimes interfere with real-time communication features in Teams.

4/ Lastly, you can try using the web version of Teams by signing in at Microsoft Teams

This can serve as a workaround, especially if the desktop client continues to experience issues.

I hope this information helps address your concerns. While our initial response might not always resolve the issue right away, your input and any additional details you can share will really help us work together toward a solution. Your cooperation means a lot, and it helps us ensure that we can deliver the best possible support tailored to your situation.
