Web recordings created in Teams but by a different user

I have a user that I deleted due to problems and then created again in Active Directory.
Now some recordings in Teams are gone, and some of the calendar appointments that were created in the old profile are not accessible to the new profile.
I need some help :-)
Best Regards

    Hello @Johnny Broe,

Good day! Thank you for posting your valuable question on Microsoft Q&A forum.

Even if the username is the same, the new user account has a different security identifier (SID). This means:

    • Teams recordings, calendar events, OneDrive files, and email data linked to the old SID are not automatically accessible to the new account.
    • The new user is treated as a completely different identity by Microsoft 365 services.

    For Microsoft Teams Recordings:

When you delete a user in the Microsoft 365 admin center (or when a user is removed through Active Directory synchronization), their OneDrive is retained for a period defined in the SharePoint admin center (default is 30 days).

If the user was deleted within 30 days, you can restore the user and all their data from the Microsoft 365 admin center:

    • In Microsoft 365 Admin Center, look for the deleted user under Deleted users.
    • Click on the check box in front of the username, then choose Restore user.

If you deleted the user more than 30 days ago, the user will no longer appear in the Microsoft 365 admin center, and you need to use PowerShell to restore the OneDrive. Please follow the instruction at: Restore a deleted OneDrive - SharePoint in Microsoft 365 | Microsoft Learn

    For calendar appointments:

If you were able to restore user in the previous steps, then you can verify that the account is active.

    • In the Microsoft 365 Admin Center, go to Users > Active users.
    • Ensure the restored user appears in the list. The user will be unlicensed.
    • Select the restored user and click Licenses and Apps.
    • Assign the appropriate license and click Save Changes.

Then, You can ensure that the mailbox is restored and fully active in  Exchange Admin Center.

    • In the Exchange Admin Center, go to Recipients > Mailboxes.
    • Verify that the restored mailbox appears in the list and is active.
    • Assign Permissions

Lastly, In the Exchange Admin Center, go to Recipients > Mailboxes.

    • Select the restored mailbox and click Manage mailbox delegation.
    • Add any necessary permissions for other users to access the mailbox.

If you deleted the user more than 30 days ago and your tenant has Retention policies or litigation hold enabled before deletion to preserve mailbox data, you can try Using Microsoft Purview to Recover Calendar Appointments:

    1. Go to the Microsoft Purview portal and sign in using the credentials of an account that's been assigned the appropriate permissions: eDiscovery Manager or Compliance Administrator
    2. In the left navigation pane, select Content search.
    3. On the Content search page, select New search.
    4. On the Name and description page, enter a name for the search, an optional description that helps identify the search. The name of the search must be unique in your organization.
    5. On the Locations page, choose the content locations that you want to search. You can search mailboxes, sites, and public folders.
    6. On the Conditions page, enter a keyword query and add conditions to the search query if necessary.
    7. Review the search settings (and edit if necessary), and then select Submit to start the search.

For details on how to create a Content Search in Microsoft Purview, please check:

To avoid this issue going forward, please Enable Retention Policies in Microsoft Purview:

    • Go to Purview > Data Lifecycle Management > Retention Policies
    • Apply to Exchange Online and OneDrive
    • Consider enabling Litigation Hold for critical users.

Please understand that our initial response does not always resolve the issue immediately. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.
