I have a Excel file with suspense dates. I would like to import that information in a calendar format into a channel which other managers can use.

    Hi @Derek Sentinella,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Regarding to your question about building a calendar in a Microsoft Teams channel using your Excel file. There are a few ways to approach this depending on how you'd like the calendar to function and how interactive or automated it needs to be.

To better assist you, could you clarify a few things:

1/ Are you looking for a visual calendar layout (like Outlook or Teams Calendar), or would a list-style format work for your needs?

2/ Does your Excel file include clearly defined columns for dates, titles, and descriptions? Are the dates formatted consistently?

3/ Should other managers be able to edit the calendar, or just view it? Do you need notifications or reminders tied to the entries?

4/ Are you hoping to embed the calendar directly in the Teams channel, or would linking to an external calendar (like Outlook or SharePoint) be acceptable?

5/ Will the Excel file be updated regularly, and should those updates reflect automatically in the calendar?

Once I have a bit more detail, I’ll be able to guide you through the most suitable solutions.

    Looking forward to your response.

    Hi @Derek Sentinella,

Thank you very much for your prompt response, your details are helpful.

Since you're looking for a visual calendar embedded in a Teams channel, with multi-manager editing, minimal sync lag, and recurring event support, here are three options you can consider:

Option 1: Shared Outlook Calendar Embedded in Teams

Best for Full-featured calendar view (like Outlook), recurring events, and real-time collaboration.

1/ Create a Shared Calendar in Outlook:

    • Go to Outlook > Calendar > Add Calendar > Create Blank Calendar.
    • Name it (e.g., Team Suspense Calendar) and share it with managers, giving them edit permissions.

    2/ Import Excel Data:

    • Export your Excel to CSV or copy-paste key dates manually.
    • For automation, use Power Automate to read Excel rows and create calendar events.

    3/ Set Recurring Events:

    • Outlook supports custom recurrence (e.g., “every third Thursday”).

    4/ Embed in Teams:

    • In Teams, go to the channel > click + > choose Existing page.

    User's image

    • Paste the Outlook Web Calendar URL and name the tab (e.g., “Team Calendar”).

Option 2: SharePoint Calendar (Classic List)

Best for keeping everything within SharePoint/Teams with structured metadata.

1/ Open the channel’s Files tab > Open in SharePoint.

    User's image

2/ In SharePoint > Site Contents > New > App > Choose Calendar.

3/ Customize columns (e.g., Responsible Manager, Service, Reference).

4/ Use Quick Edit or Power Automate to import Excel data.

5/ Add the calendar to Teams via SharePoint tab or Website tab.

Option 3: Microsoft Lists with Calendar View

Best for Direct Excel import, easy editing, and calendar visualization.

1/ In Teams > Add tab > Choose Apps > Excel.

    User's image

2/ Map columns (Suspense Date as Date/Time, others as text).

3/ Create a Calendar View using the Suspense Date.

4/ Team members can edit directly in Teams.

5/ For recurring events, use Power Automate to generate future entries.

If recurring events and a familiar calendar interface are your top priorities, go with Option 1 (Outlook Calendar).

If you want a quick setup directly from Excel and easy editing in Teams, Option 3 (Lists) is excellent, just note the lack of native recurrence.
