Creating files from a template not asking for file name - it derails the Power Automate worklow

I have given instruction to my channel members to create file names based on the topic they wanted to raise the request. Right now it was broken and files are getting created automatically with generic file names. This file creation option does not demand user to change the file name and thus derail the file creation and associated workflow.

Are you able to suggest an alternate way to demand user to update the file name in line with the topic before closing the new file created?

    Dear @Aby Scaria,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum!

According to your description, I understand that you are running into an issue where files created from a template in Power Automate are being assigned generic names instead of allowing your users to specify names based on the topics they want to address.

In this case, please allow me to provide some information with you:

I completely understand and empathize with how inconvenient this feels the process has become quite complicated, and I know it can disrupt your Power Automate flows that rely on the file name being set at creation.

According to the current design of Teams on the web, when you create a new file from a template in Teams, the system automatically generates a default name (for example, “Book1.xlsx”) and opens the file in a browser. The previous behavior prompting users to enter a name immediately upon creation is no longer supported. I’m truly sorry for the impact this change has on your workflows. As you can see in this post: No longer a prompt to enter file names in Teams
