Hi.

All of a sudden, I was not able to add my external screens (2x) via the USB-C port.
When checking, I received the message that Surface UCM UCSI Hid Client was malfunctional but of the latest version.
What do I need to do in order to re-install this driver?

Thanks
Christer

    Hi Christer Andersson,

Thanks for sharing the details. The error usually indicates a problem with the UCM-UCSI driver or related firmware.

Here are a few steps you can try.

In Device Manager, right-click the Surface UCM-UCSI device, select Uninstall device, then restart your Surface. Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.

Run Windows Update and install all optional updates, including firmware.

Download and install the latest Surface drivers and firmware from Surface Support.

Let me know how it goes and if you need help from any of the above steps I'll be happy to help.

    Best,
    Carl

    Hi Carl.

Thanks for your prompt response to my question, highly appreciated.

I have tried this solution without success and I am starting to suspect that it might be a hardware issue rather than software related. I have run the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit and Intel Driver ans Support Assistant without any improvements.
I seems that I might have to buy a new laptop wich is unfortunate as the laptop was bought 2,5 years ago,
    Anyaway, I appreciate your support.
    Take care

    Best regards

    Christer
