Can i rename the maintenance configuration in Azure update manager

This is not possible. The name of the maintenance configuration is the name of the resource itself. The names of resources cannot be renamed. Best is to create new configuration with the same settings and new name. If you are using dynamic scoping you will just have to remove the scopes and delete the old maintenance configuration. If it is regular maintenance configuration will require re-assigning the new configuration on the resources and after that deleting the old maintenance configuration.
