Hi Leanne,
Welcome to Microsoft Q&A!
Based on the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) ruling, your request has a strong foundation. However, since payment-related issues involve sensitive personal data, which we as a community platform cannot access, the most effective path is to contact Microsoft Support directly and cite the ruling:
- Go to the official Contact Us - Microsoft Support > sign in with your Microsoft account
- Type in
refund> choose an issue > click Get Help and follow the prompt - Or scroll to bottom of the page and click Contact Support
- Once connected to an agent, clearly state your request and include:
- Your Microsoft account email
- Subscription details
- A statement that you were not informed of the Classic plan option
- Reference the ACCC case and your intent to seek refund
In the meantime, if you want to switch back to the Classic plan, visit https://account.microsoft.com/services. Click on your Microsoft 365 plan and choose “Cancel subscription”. During the cancellation flow, look for the Classic plan option. You won’t be charged for this, and it may help support your refund claim.
Let me know if you'd like help navigating the cancellation flow. I hope the above information can help you get the refund back! Thanks for your time!
