Azure Application Gateway - 308 Permanent redirection support

Im aware that Azure Front Door can do this but.......is response code 308 (Permanent Redirect) on the Roadmap for Application Gateways? as per RFC7538 or is there some undocumented way of setting this up currently in App GWs?

Microsoft does not currently provide a dedicated public roadmap page for Azure Application Gateway. Instead, feature announcements and roadmap updates are shared through official channels, so you’ll need to refer to Azure Updates for tracking changes.

Thank you for your patience here. I am just summarizing our private communication for community benefit.

As discussed, we currently do not have an ETA for when this feature will be supported by application gateway.

For anyone who is using AKS as backend can consider using Azure Application Gateway for Containers. This is expected to support the 308 response code once the Kubernetes Gateway API reaches a stable release in v1.5. The team will provide an update on Azure as soon as this support is available.
