Hi there,

Is there a functionality that will allow me to send reminders for teams chats? Similar to the slack /remind
for example I want to send a reminder to a chat group about a specific task weekly.

    Hi @HK

Thank you for posting your question from Microsoft Q&A forum.

According to your concern, unfortunately Microsoft Teams does not have a built-in /remind command like stack for creating chat reminders.

In Teams, there are two ways to use reminder feature:

Option 1: Using dedicated Microsoft Teams Remind app

    • To use this app, go to the chat you want to send reminder, click the (+) button in next to the Send button > Get more apps
    • Type reminder in the search bar and get the Remind app by Moonbear Ventures

    • Then when you click the (+) button again, Remind will appear as available app, click on it > Set reminder

    User's image

    • You can configure to set up reminders for every week, every month, etc or configure to use @mention the bot in a group chat or channel to set a reminder for everyone to see.

Option 2: Using workflow (more advanced for custom automation)

    • Find your group chat and click on the More options (…) in the right of the chat > Workflows > Workflow builder
    • Write your requirement in the box, for example Weekly reminder message

    User's image

    • Press Next > fill the necessary details when prompted > Configure the details based on your need

Hope this information will be helpful. Please let me know if there's anything else I can help you with.

Thank you for your understanding and corporation. Looking forward to your response.

    Hi @HK

    Thank you for your updates.

Since your workplace disable Workflow and third-party apps, you can try using the recurring event as a workaround:

    • In the Calendar app in Teams, create a new meeting
    • Make the title become the reminder, for example Reminder: Week report
    • Set the Recurrence to Weekly on the specific day you need it and invite everyone in the chat to this meeting.
    • You can also post your detailed reminder message in the meeting chat when it's scheduled.
    • You can also use manual by using the Set delivery options (in the + button next to Send button in Teams chat) combining with @mentions to tag the groups or chat members.

Using Teams meeting as a workaround helps you easily set it to repeat the notification weekly or monthly based on your need and everyone will receive a notification pop-up at the scheduled time.

About the built-in /remind feature as Stack does, if this feature would improve your workflow, I encourage you to share your feedback directly with the Microsoft engineering team via Microsoft 365 Feedback Hub → Send Feedback and describe your suggestion in detail. Your input plays a vital role in shaping the future of Microsoft products.
