Emails ending up in my junk still adding calendar events

These emails have been flagged as junk. They are still managing to add them to my calendar despite this, I never want a junk email to be able to invite me successfully to something. I have not accepted anything - I only checked my junk email because I have these events on my calendar

    Hi Isabelle,

Thank you for sharing your question. I understand how frustrating that when calendar events pop up from junk email, especially if you don’t accept them. It's a pain when spam messes with your calendar.

Based on my knowledge this happens because Outlook has an Events from Email thing that scans your emails for events like reservations or appointments and puts them on your calendar even from the junk folder. It's on by default for some senders and events.

To stop it, you can turn off Events from Email in Outlook on the web:

Go to Outlook on the web.

Click the Settings (gear icon) at the top right.

    Select View all Outlook settings.

Go to Calendar > Events from email.

Uncheck Automatically add events from email to my calendar or turn off specific event types.

This stops Outlook from adding events from any email, including junk stuff.

May I also ask to have you messed with these settings yet? Need a hand finding them?

I hope this answer is helpful, if you have any questions, feel free to reply.

    Best Regards,

    Noel

Microsoft is aware of the problem but there is currently no fix. There are no Rules you can create or settings you can change in the Outlook client that will stop these SPAM Calendar Events.

SPAM Calendar Events - Update 2025-12-05 - Still an ongoing issue. No update from Microsoft on a general solution.
