    Dear @Robinson Dass,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Q&A Forum!

This message: "You need permission to join this live event. Please contact the organizer" typically appears due to one or more of the following reasons:

    1. Event permission settings: Live Events in Microsoft Teams have three access levels:
      • Public: Anyone with the link can join.
      • Org-wide: Only people in the organizer’s organization.
      • Specific People/Groups: Only invited participants.
If the event was restricted and your account wasn’t included, you would see this error.
(Reference: Best Practices for Live Events)
    2. Account mismatch: If you registered with one email but signed in with another, the system will block access. (Reference: Issues with Teams Webinars)
    3. Organization policies: Guest access or anonymous join may be disabled in the organizer’s Teams settings. Please check this article for more details: Troubleshoot Teams Live Events
    4. Cache or sync issues: Cached credentials or delayed permission sync can cause unexpected access errors.

So, about your question: "what could I have done better to avoid in future". I can suggest you some steps below:

    • Sign in with the same account used for registration.
    • Verify the event link and permissions early: Try joining 15–30 minutes before the start time.
    • Clear cache or use an InPrivate/Incognito browser session if you encounter issues.
    • Update Microsoft Teams or use the web version if the desktop app fails.
    • Important: Contact the organizer promptly if you see a permission error, they can grant access or resend the correct attendee link.

We appreciate your kind patience and understanding that sometimes the initial response may not immediately resolve the issue or there may be some misunderstandings about your scenario, but we would love to hear updates from you and find out further suggestions.

    Best Regards.
