Fix for Teams - my screen arbitrarily zooms in during a meeting!

I use Teams for guitar lessons. It’s imperative that my instructor see my guitar as I play, not so much my face. I’m assuming the screen is zooming in to find my face? It’s super annoying and really makes this app almost unusable for our purpose.

Can anyone suggest a fix (not a $100/month software fix)? I saw another response that was left a few years ago where someone suggested going into the camera settings and turning off “automatic framing”, well I don’t have a setting for automatic framing (or any framing). I DO have the latest ISO update, and the latest version of Microsoft Teams.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hello Sherry,

Unfortunately, not all versions of Teams or webcams offer a visible “auto-framing” toggle in the settings, which makes it even more confusing. If you do see a setting under Teams > Settings > Devices > Camera like “Automatically adjust camera controls” or “Auto-framing,” try turning it off. If it’s not there, the feature might be controlled by your webcam’s own software so it’s worth checking if your camera has a companion app (like Logitech’s Logi Tune or Windows Camera settings) where you can disable face tracking or auto-zoom.

Also, if you’re using a newer Teams feature called IntelliFrame, you might be able to disable it during a meeting by right-clicking your video and selecting “Turn off IntelliFrame.” Another tip: physically adjusting your webcam to focus more on your guitar and less on your face can help override the auto-zoom behavior.

Lastly, for better sound during your lessons, you can enable High Fidelity Music Mode in Teams under Settings > Devices > Audio, which is designed specifically for music and instruments.
