    Dear grant mcdougall,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A Forum.

Before we begin, I have to say that the process you are looking for is called automatic sign-in, which will make your computer highly insecure. Anyone who can physically turn on your computer will have complete and unrestricted access to all your files, emails, banking information, and personal data. Please only proceed if you fully understand and accept this risk.

    1. Disable Windows Hello Requirement:
      • Press Windows + I to go to Settings > Accounts.
      • Click on Sign-in options from the menu on the left.
      • Find the setting that says "Require Windows Hello sign-in for Microsoft accounts".
      • Turn this toggle OFF.
      • While you are here, under "Require sign-in," set the option to Never.
    2. Set up automatic sign-in:
      • Press Windows + R, type netplwiz, Enter.
      • Select your account.
      • Uncheck "Users must enter a username and password."
      • OK, enter current password if prompted.
      • Restart your computer.

Please let me know if these steps could help.

    Hello,

The instruction you were given is the general standard instruction. I do want to point out, pay close attention at step 3 below. If you are using a Microsoft account to sign in, you must erase the prefilled username in the pop up and put in the entire Microsoft account email address as username.

    Anyway, here is the instruction:

    1. First, go to Settings > Accounts > Sign in options, scroll down to mid page, under "Additional Settings",Make sure "For improved security, only allow Windows Hello Sign-in for Microsoft accounts on this device (Recommended). " is turned OFF.
    2. Type netplwiz in the search on the taskbar and press enter, select your user, if the "user must enter a username and password to use this computer" box is NOT checked, please check it , click Apply. Then uncheck the box and click Apply. This will bring up a pop up window.
    3. On this pop up window, this is where most mistakes happen. Very important, erase the username that's prefilled. Username should be your entire email address for your Microsoft account. Password is your Microsoft account's password. Any typo here can prevent it from working. Then click OK. And back to the netplwiz page, click OK.
    4. Restart the computer now and it should work.
