Can’t remove unwanted “Greek-Latin” keyboard layout in Windows 11 Home

Hi,

In Windows 11 Home I accidentally added the “Greek-Latin” keyboard layout. Since then, I’ve tried several ways to remove it — without success.

In Settings → Time & Language, there is no “Greek-Latin” listed under either Language or Keyboard options.

In Settings → Accounts → Windows backup → Remember my preferences, the Language option is turned off.

In the Registry, I keep deleting all d0010408 entries — but “Greek-Latin” keeps coming back after restart.

AI tools suggest creating a registry script to force its removal, but that feels like overkill for something that should be simple.

Microsoft — is there a proper way to permanently erase this layout? Any other ideas or verified solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance, Yannis

    Open the old Control Panel

At the top of Control Panel, set View to Icons

    Select Region

Select the Administrative Tab on the resulting dialog

Click Change System Locale in the 'Language for non-Unicode Programs' section

    .

Open the Settings App, then go to Time & language - Language & region

Scroll down and select Administrative language settings

On the Administrative tab click the Copy settings button

Enable 'Welcome screen and system accounts' and also New user accounts

    Save that setting.

Restart (not shut down) the PC

    This worked (from ChatGPT):

STEP A — Check the Welcome Screen layout

Control Panel → Region → Administrative tab → Copy settings

    Look at the window sections:

    • Welcome Screen

    New User Accounts

Inside those sections, you will see which layouts are present.

📌 If you see Greek Latin → that is the reason it keeps coming back.

    To remove it:

    You must:

1️⃣ Change the input methods in the current user

    2️⃣ Click “Copy settings”

    3️⃣ Tick:

    Welcome Screen and System Accounts

    New User Accounts

    4️⃣ Restart

This will remove it from the system context.STEP A — Check the Welcome Screen layout
