Hi Everyone,

I have a configuration policy created in intune for all MacBook, which blocks all extension except for 2 extension which I have allowed.

Adding '*' to block all other extension is blocking "Show Copilot button on the toolbar" for edge.

I tried to manage this via script and mobileconfig with no solution. Can anyone suggest a solution to this issue?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Divya

To resolve the issue of the Edge Copilot button being blocked due to the extension policy in Intune, you may need to adjust your configuration policy settings. Here are some steps you can consider:

    1. Review Extension Policies: Ensure that the policy you created allows the specific extensions required for Copilot. Instead of using a wildcard (*) to block all extensions, explicitly list the extensions you want to allow, including those necessary for Copilot.
    2. Modify the Policy: In your Intune configuration, you can create a more granular policy that allows the Copilot extension while still blocking others. This may involve identifying the specific extension ID for Copilot and adding it to the allowed list.
    3. Testing: After making changes to the policy, test it on a single MacBook to ensure that the Copilot button appears as expected without compromising the security of other extensions.
    4. Consult Documentation: For detailed guidance on managing Microsoft Edge extensions through Intune, refer to the Microsoft documentation on configuring Edge policies. This can provide insights into the correct settings and any potential limitations.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, consider reaching out to Microsoft support for further assistance, as they can provide more tailored guidance based on your specific configuration and requirements.

To resolve this, try explicitly allowing the Copilot extension by adding its specific extension ID in your Intune configuration profile, rather than using a blanket “*” block rule. You can also verify if the policy type is using the Microsoft Edge > Extensions setting and confirm the Copilot extension ID from the official Edge Add-ons site or Microsoft documentation.
