In fairly simple terms, please advise how to fix "backspace key" . The is not working.

Additionally, when typing, the space bar when clicked once gives a double space between the words. It doesn't backspace twice every time as you can see above between the words "when" and "clicked" and 'is' and 'not' in the 1st question above.

If your backspace key is not working, here are some simple steps you can try to fix it:

    1. Check for Debris: Sometimes dirt or debris can get stuck under the key. Gently clean around the key with compressed air or a soft brush.
    2. Restart Your Computer: A simple restart can fix many keyboard issues. Just turn off your computer and turn it back on.
    3. Check Keyboard Settings: Make sure that your keyboard settings are correct. You can go to the Control Panel or Settings on your computer and check the keyboard settings.
    4. Try Another Keyboard: If you have another keyboard, try connecting it to see if the backspace key works on that one. This can help you determine if the issue is with the keyboard itself.
    5. Update Keyboard Drivers: Sometimes, outdated drivers can cause issues. You can update your keyboard drivers through the Device Manager in Windows.

For the space bar issue where it gives a double space, this could be due to a setting or a sticky key. Here’s what you can do:

    1. Check Keyboard Settings: Go to your keyboard settings and see if there is an option for "Repeat delay" or "Repeat rate". Adjusting these settings may help.
    2. Check for Sticky Keys: Make sure that the Sticky Keys feature is turned off. You can find this in the Ease of Access settings on your computer.
    3. Test the Space Bar: Just like with the backspace key, try another keyboard to see if the problem persists. If it works fine on another keyboard, your current keyboard may need to be replaced.

If these steps do not resolve the issues, you may want to consider seeking help from a professional or the manufacturer of your keyboard for further assistance.

    1

Open Command Prompt, then paste in this command and press Enter:

    msdt.exe -id KeyboardDiagnostic

Run that Keyboard Troubleshooter to see if that can solve the problem.

    2

If that does not resolve this for you

    Open Device Manager

    Expand the Keyboards section

Right click your keyboard and choose 'Uninstall'

    Then restart your PC

    3

If the problem is still not resolved:

Bring up the on-screen keyboard, are those keys working correctly on that keyboard?

Connect another external keyboard to your system, are those keys working correctly on that keyboard?
