I have 2 one drive accounts, but only need one and want to delete the other.

But first, I want to check that files and photos are being synched to the correct account and/or I have not linked files and photos to go to the incorrect account .

Is there a checklist that I can use ? eg my Google account seems to synch to the wrong account, but my PC onedrive online is synching to the correct account... and some photos seem to go to the correct account, and others to the incorrect one....mmm

Hi, thanks for posting here in Microsoft community, if you already checked the linked OneDrive account, verified files and photos, and tried unlinking/relinking but the issue still persists, here's what you can try.

First try to clear OneDrive credentials via Windows Credential Manager to fully reset account linkage, to do this simply open Credential Manager, press Windows + S, type Credential Manager, and open it then go to Windows Credentials, click the Windows Credentials tab then find OneDrive Entries, then look for entries like OneDrive Cached Credential or anything with OneDrive or MicrosoftAccount then Remove Credentials, click Remove for each OneDrive-related entry then restart OneDrive then open OneDrive again from the Start menu and sign in with the correct account.

Also, you can Uninstall and reinstall OneDrive to ensure no residual settings are causing confusion, check if multiple Microsoft accounts are cached in Windows and OneDrive, sometimes switching accounts doesn’t fully disconnect the previous one.

Also, to better understand, Are the incorrect files or photos showing up in the OneDrive web interface, the local folder, or both and are they from a different Microsoft account than expected?

I hope this helps you out, let me know

To ensure that your files and photos are being synced to the correct OneDrive account, you can follow these steps:

    1. Check OneDrive Account:
      • Click on the OneDrive icon in the taskbar notification area. If you don’t see it, you may need to start OneDrive from the Start menu.
      • Go to Help & Settings > Settings and check the Account tab to confirm which account is currently linked.
    2. Verify Synced Files:
      • Open the OneDrive folder on your PC and check the files and folders there. Make sure they match what you expect to see from the correct account.
      • You can also log into the OneDrive web interface for the account you believe is correct to compare the files.
    3. Check Photo Uploads:
      • If you use the OneDrive mobile app, check the settings to see which account is being used for photo uploads. Ensure that the app is linked to the correct account.
      • Review the photos in the OneDrive web interface to confirm they are in the correct account.
    4. Unlink Incorrect Account:
      • If you find that files or photos are linked to the incorrect account, you can unlink that account and relink OneDrive to the correct account. This can be done in the OneDrive settings under the Account tab.
    5. Backup Important Files:
      • Before deleting any account, make sure to back up any important files from the account you plan to delete.

Following this checklist should help you ensure that your files and photos are syncing to the correct OneDrive account before you proceed with deleting the other account.
