Hi Faizal, congratulations on your Surface Book 2! Let’s fix those issues.
Keyboard won’t detach (green light shows): This usually happens when the GPU in the keyboard base is still in use. Try these steps:
- Close any apps that might use the GPU (like games or video editors).
- Check for Windows and firmware updates:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and install all updates.
- Restart your Surface and try detaching again.
- If it still won’t detach, open the Surface app and run diagnostics. You can also detach manually through the app.
Touchscreen shows a square and stops responding: This is often a touch driver or calibration issue.
- Restart your Surface to clear any stuck overlays.
- Update touchscreen drivers:
- Right-click Start > Device Manager > Human Interface Devices.
- Find HID-compliant touch screen, right-click, and select Update driver.
- If you use any third-party pen or touch software, disable it temporarily.
- If the square looks like a selection box, check if Sticky Keys or accessibility features are turned on.
- Right-click Start > Device Manager > Human Interface Devices.
After updates, restart and test again. If the problem persists, you can run Surface Diagnostic Toolkit from Microsoft’s site to check hardware and drivers.
Let me know if you need the link to download the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit or detailed steps for manual detach.
