Hi Faizal, congratulations on your Surface Book 2! Let’s fix those issues.

Keyboard won’t detach (green light shows): This usually happens when the GPU in the keyboard base is still in use. Try these steps:

    1. Close any apps that might use the GPU (like games or video editors).
    2. Check for Windows and firmware updates:
      • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and install all updates.
      1. Restart your Surface and try detaching again.
      2. If it still won’t detach, open the Surface app and run diagnostics. You can also detach manually through the app.

Touchscreen shows a square and stops responding: This is often a touch driver or calibration issue.

    1. Restart your Surface to clear any stuck overlays.
    2. Update touchscreen drivers:
      • Right-click Start > Device Manager > Human Interface Devices.
        • Find HID-compliant touch screen, right-click, and select Update driver.
        1. If you use any third-party pen or touch software, disable it temporarily.
        2. If the square looks like a selection box, check if Sticky Keys or accessibility features are turned on.

After updates, restart and test again. If the problem persists, you can run Surface Diagnostic Toolkit from Microsoft’s site to check hardware and drivers.

Let me know if you need the link to download the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit or detailed steps for manual detach.

    Regards,

    Rez

To help with the issues you're facing on your Surface Book 2:

    1. Keyboard Detachment Issue: If your keyboard is not detaching and the green light is illuminated, this may suggest that the keyboard is still connected or there is a malfunction. Here are some steps you can try:
      • Make sure the Surface Book 2 is powered on.
      • Perform a force restart by pressing and holding the Power button for about 10 seconds. This can sometimes fix connectivity problems.
      • Check for any debris or obstructions in the hinge area that might be preventing the keyboard from detaching.
      • If the issue persists, consider looking for firmware updates or performing a reset on your device.
    2. Touchscreen Issue: If your touchscreen is unresponsive and you notice a square on the screen, it could be due to several factors:
      • Ensure that the screen is clean and free of any obstructions or protective films that could affect touch sensitivity.
      • Restart your device to see if this resolves the issue.
      • If the touchscreen still does not work properly, check for software updates or consider performing a system reset to restore functionality.

If these troubleshooting steps do not resolve your problems, it may be helpful to contact Microsoft Support for additional assistance.
