I'm trying to sign up for Windows 10 ESU on my wife's PC running Windows 10 Pro but I cannot sign in to microsoft.com on my wife's PC.
Two days ago the account locked me out of all my devices, microsoft.com, and outlook.com for too many tries. At that time I reset the password twice, then realized that because I have 2FA enabled I needed to wait 24 hours to try again. Two days later, I am able to sign on to microsoft.com and outlook.com on my OTHER devices, but still cannot sign onto wife's PC.
I removed her device from the MS account. Cleared her cache on all her browsers. Rebooted. On her PC: Microsoft server = ok; internet = good; VPN disconnected and proxy auto-detect disabled. The Windows Store app is not showing. I followed learn.microsoft "windows-store-missing" article 3316635 to remove and reinstall appxpackage. Still doesn't show after 2 full shutdown/reboots
Back to trying to sign in to microsoft.com on her PC. Windows shows as being signed in by my microsoft account. Message says, "Need to verify your account", "sign in to fix your account - 2147186653". Then "Account not syncing" message, "we cant sync to your account since we need to confirm its you" > " sign in". Then another message, "Something went wrong" 0x80048823"
In the meantime, I can still get into microsoft.com and outlook.com on the other devices. I signed into this forum from my wife's PC and it accepted my microsoft login details (same as for microsoft account) and it sent a code to my 2FA app.
Any help would be appreciated.
