SurfacePro 8 Black Screen Not Responding

My laptop screen went black when it went to sleep, and now it won't come back on. I've tried all of the keyboard shortcuts on Microsofts troubleshooting page, unplugging and plugging back in the power source, hard restarting, and waiting. I know there is power because the keyboard is lighting up, and a little tune played once or twice. I don't think the hard restarts are working because the key oars light goes off but a tune will play later, or I'll tap the caps key and the light will come on. I have no idea where to go from here.

It sounds like you're experiencing a common issue with the Surface Pro 8 where the screen remains black after sleep. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the problem:

    1. Reset the Graphics Driver: Try resetting the graphics driver by pressing the Windows logo key + Ctrl + Shift + B. This can sometimes resolve display issues.
    2. Check for External Displays: If you have an external display connected, disconnect it to see if the Surface Pro 8 will wake up.
    3. Force Shutdown: If the screen remains black, perform a force shutdown by pressing and holding the power button for about 10 seconds until the device turns off. Then, wait a few seconds and turn it back on.
    4. Check for Updates: If you can get the device to respond, make sure your Surface Pro 8 is up to date with the latest firmware and Windows updates.
    5. Clean Boot: If the issue persists, consider performing a clean boot to see if a startup application or service is causing the problem. This can help isolate the issue.
    6. Contact Support: If none of these steps work, it may be best to contact Microsoft Support for further assistance, as there could be a hardware issue.

These steps should help you troubleshoot the black screen issue on your Surface Pro 8.

    Hi there, BW.

It sounds like your Surface Pro is powering on but the display isn’t waking up, which usually points to a display driver or firmware issue rather than a full hardware failure. Let’s start simple: disconnect any accessories, then press and hold the power button for 30 seconds, release it, and then press and hold Power + Volume Up together for about 15 seconds until you see the Surface logo or hear a sound. If nothing shows, try connecting to an external monitor or TV using a compatible cable, this will tell us if the screen itself is the problem. When you tried the hard restart earlier, did you see the logo at any point or was it black the whole time?

Also, have you noticed if the device gets warm, or does it stay cool? These details will help narrow down whether it’s stuck in a low-power state or something deeper
