After losing power several times, now when I try to use EDGE to visit https://bing.com it says: "Your connection isn't Private" and that is true of any https link I try to visit from any browser. How do I fix it?

To fix the "Your connection isn't private" error in Microsoft Edge (or any browser), you can try the following steps:

    1. Check Date and Time Settings: Ensure that your computer's date and time are set correctly. An incorrect date or time can cause SSL certificate errors.
    2. Clear Browser Cache: Sometimes, cached data can lead to issues. Clear your browser cache and cookies. In Edge, go to Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Clear browsing data.
    3. Disable Extensions: Some browser extensions can interfere with secure connections. Disable all extensions and see if the issue persists.
    4. Reset Network Settings: Resetting your network settings can help resolve connection issues. You can do this by going to Settings > Network & Internet > Status > Network reset.
    5. Check Antivirus/Firewall Settings: Sometimes, security software can block secure connections. Temporarily disable your antivirus or firewall to see if it resolves the issue.
    6. Use InPrivate Mode: Try accessing the website in InPrivate mode. This can help determine if the issue is related to browser settings or extensions.
    7. Check for Windows Updates: Ensure your Windows operating system is up to date, as updates can fix bugs and improve security.
    8. Contact Your Network Administrator: If you're on a corporate network, your network settings might be managed by an administrator, and they may need to assist you.

If none of these steps work, you may need to check your network connection or contact your Internet Service Provider for further assistance.

    Welcome Mark Bolzern,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum. I am sorry to hear about your issue when you get a message " your connection isn't private" after several losing power.

The "Your connection isn't private" error across all browsers after power losses typically stems from corrupted system time, damaged SSL certificate cache, or network glitches on Windows.

You can try some these steps below to troubleshoot the issue:

    Option 1: Restart Cryptographic Services

    • Go to Services > find Cryptographic Services > right-click on it and select Restart
    • Ensure the Startup type is set to Automatic. If not, right-click > Properties > change to Automatic > Apply

    Option 2: Clear SSL Cache

    • Go to Control Panel > Internet Options > Content > select Clear SSL State
    • After that, restart your PC

Option 3: Check and Update Root Certificates

    • Press Win + R, type certmgr.msc > Enter
    • Navigate to Trusted Root Certification Authorities > check if any certificates are missing or corrupted
    • To update: Run Windows Update (including Optional Updates). Or download the Microsoft Root Certificate Update from the official Microsoft website

Option 4: Repair System Files and Reset TCP/IP

    • Run the following commands in Command Prompt (Run as Administrator):

    sfc /scannow

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

    netsh int ip reset

    netsh advfirewall reset

    • Restart after every command.

    Option 5: In-Place upgrade

    • Go to the Windows 11 website: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11
    • Under Download Windows 11 Disk Image (ISO), select Windows 11 (Multi-Edition ISO)
    • Once the ISO is finished downloading, right-click on the ISO and click on Mount, then click on Setup.exe
    • You might be prompted by User Account Control. In this case, click Yes
    • In the Install Windows 11 dialog box, click Next
    • The installer will check your PC and display a license agreement. Click Accept in the license terms dialog box
    • Wait for the installer to check the available free space
    • On the Ready to install page, make sure that the Keep personal files and apps option is checked
    • Then, click on Install and simply follow the instructions
    • Windows 11 will restart your device several times and take you to the lock screen. Depending on the options you set, it will keep all your files, apps, and user accounts.

I really hope that the information I gave above was helpful to you. Please feel free to reply below and let me know if you have further concern on this matter.
