Public IP Addresses Basic (ARM) was retired. Move to Public IP Addresses Standard

You’re receiving this notification because you have one or more Azure subscriptions that currently use Public IP Addresses Basic (ARM).

As announced previously, Public IP Addresses Basic (ARM) was retired on 30 September 2025. To get the most value for the same cost, we recommend upgrading to Standard (ARM), which offers significant improvements over Basic (ARM), including:

  • Access to a variety of other Azure products, including Standard Load Balancer, Azure Firewall, and NAT Gateway.
  • Security by default—closed to inbound flows unless allowed by a network security group.
  • Zone-redundant and zonal front ends for inbound and outbound traffic.

On 31 March 2026, the price for any Public IP Addresses Basic (ARM) you continue to use will increase to match Standard (ARM). This change will affect two types of IP addresses:

  • For Dynamic IPv4 Basic (ARM), the price will increase from $0.004/hr to $0.005/hr.
  • For Static IPv4 Basic (ARM), the price will increase from $0.0036/hr to $0.005/hr.

Upgrade to Public IP Addresses Standard (ARM).

    Hello @Topani,

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A Platform. Thank you for reaching out & hope you are doing well.

You can continue using your Basic SKU Public IP addresses if they’re linked to Azure Cloud Services (extended support), as these aren’t affected by the recent retirement announcement.

Just a quick heads-up: starting March 31, 2026, the hourly cost for Basic SKU Public IP addresses will increase.

    Refer: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/5620421/microsoft-azure-public-ip-addresses-basic-(arm)-wa

To ensure your environment remains supported and take advantage of better performance, stronger security, and zone redundancy, we suggest planning a move to Standard SKU Public IP addresses. This update aligns with Azure’s ongoing improvements in reliability and network protection.

You can upgrade your public IP from Basic to Standard by using the Migrate tab in the Azure portal. If you do not see the Migrate tab, it means this feature is not yet available in your region. In that case, you will need to wait until the option becomes available, as the update is being rolled out region by region.
