It sounds like you are encountering a login issue on your laptop, indicated by a red bar with a lock icon. This typically suggests that your device is locked, possibly due to security settings or a failed login attempt. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:

    1. Restart Your Laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary glitches.
    2. Use Alternative Sign-in Methods: If you have set up other sign-in options (like a PIN, password, or biometric login), try using those.
    3. Check for Security Options: If you are unable to see security options, ensure that your device is fully updated. You may need to access recovery options if you cannot log in.
    4. Boot into Safe Mode: If the issue persists, try booting your laptop into Safe Mode. This can sometimes allow you to bypass login issues and access settings.
    5. Contact Support: If none of the above solutions work, consider reaching out to Microsoft support or your device manufacturer for further assistance.

If you have specific error messages or codes, please provide those for more tailored assistance.

    Hi Hari,

Thanks for posting here in the community forum. That red bar with a lock on your screen usually means Secure Boot is off or there's a security problem with your laptop's software, especially on Surface devices.

    Try the steps below.

-Get into your UEFI settings: Turn off your laptop. Hold Volume Up, then press and release Power while still holding Volume Up. Keep holding until the UEFI menu pops up. Then, go to Security and turn on Secure Boot.

-If that doesn't work, you might have a bigger problem with your hardware or software. You might need a USB recovery drive. If that doesn't work, it could be the motherboard, and you'll need to contact Microsoft.

This happens when Secure Boot is off or messed up. Secure Boot stops bad software from starting when you turn on your computer.

What laptop do you have? Is it a Surface Laptop/Pro or from another brand?

    Regards,

    Rez
