Teams Chat Tabular format

Currently, Microsoft Teams does not support the direct creation of tables in chat messages when pasting text. While you can format messages using Markdown for certain styles like bold, italics, and lists, tables are not included in the supported formats for chat messages. Therefore, if you paste text that resembles a table, it will not automatically convert into a table format within the Teams chat.

For structured data representation, consider using other tools or apps within Teams that support table formats, such as Microsoft Excel or SharePoint lists, and then share links or files to those resources in the chat.

Besides, to support you with your concerns, please provide more details about your needs so I can assist you better. I also need to understand exactly where you created these tables, so I know their formats when pasted into Teams chat.

Word Table

Excel Table

I can paste two types of tables in Teams chat as shown in the image below. If you encounter issues when pasting a table from another platform, you may first paste it into Excel or Word before pasting it into Teams chat.

Finally, depending on your needs, you can take screenshots of the table and paste them into the chat. This method will keep the table in its original format.

Teams has the option to insert tables.

To access this option, click on the "+" button, select the "Show formatting option" option and then select the 3 dots (...) button.

The "Insert table" option will generate a table template where you can select the size of the table (rows/columns) and then insert the table text in the available cells.
