How to recover a deleted assignment

Hello,

I accidentally deleted one assignment last night (less than 24 hr ago), I have tried the suggested method (e.g. go to General - File - Open in SharePoint - Recycling Bin), but the deleted assignment is not there or anywhere in the system (not on Site Contents). The way I set the assignment, is by sharing a page from the Class Notebook (i.e. attach the page from Class Notebook). I can still see that particular page created in the Class Notebook, but again I can't find the deleted assignment that was already completed by the students (i.e. the students have submitted their works for this assignment).

Is there any way that you can help me to recover that assignment from the back stage of Teams ? Thank you very much.

Best wishes,

Jeff

    Hi @Jeff,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Based on the information you provided, it appears you are unable to locate the assignment you created in Microsoft Teams for Education.

Since you mentioned that it is not in the recycle bin, please also check the second-stage recycle bin. You can find it the option at the bottom of the Recycle Bin page, select second-stage recycle bin.

Please note that only the site administrator can access the second-stage recycle bin. If you do not have the necessary permissions, please contact your IT support team for assistance.

If the assignment is not found in either stage of the recycle bin, you can review the file audit by following these steps:

    1. Go to the General channel in Teams.
    2. Open the Files tab and select Open in SharePoint
    3. In SharePoint, click the Settings gear icon (top-right corner) and choose Restore this library

This will show whether the file was deleted or moved to another location.

If you still cannot find the file, please contact Microsoft Support immediately, as SharePoint Online retains backups of all content for 14 additional days beyond deletion.

To submit a new service request to Microsoft Support, you will need to:

    • Go to the admin center at https://admin.cloud.microsoft.   If you get a message that says you don't have permission to access this page or perform this action, you aren't an admin. For more information, see Who has admin permissions in my business? or you can contact directly to IT admin of the university.
    • On the bottom right side of the page, select Help & support.
