Hi @Kyle,
Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.
I can get how inconvenience it can be to miss chat notifications, and I appreciate the effort you’ve already put into troubleshooting.
Just to clarify, Outlook and Teams follow different notification policies. So even if Outlook notifications work fine, Teams might be affected by your organization’s settings.
This issue usually happens for a few reasons:
- Notification channels for chats might be set to Silent even if notifications are allowed.
- Battery optimization or Samsung’s “Put apps to sleep” feature can block push notifications.
- If your company uses Intune policies, they might restrict or hide Teams notifications for security reasons.
To help narrow down the root cause, could you please confirm:
1/ Is Teams installed in a Work Profile (managed by your company) or just on the personal side?
2/ Do notifications fail only for chats, or for mentions, calls, and meetings too?
3/ Is Do Not Disturb or Battery Saver turned on?
While we're waiting for your response to the questions above, here are some steps that often help:
1/ Enable notification categories:
Go to Settings > Apps > Teams > Notifications.
- Tap Manage Notification Categories and enable all relevant toggles (Chat, Mentions, Calls).
2/ Adjust Teams Settings:
- In Teams mobile app: Profile > Settings > Notifications.
- Ensure Chats are set to “Banner and Feed.”
- Disable “Block notifications when active on other devices” if you want alerts even when using desktop.
3/ Check System Settings:
- Disable Battery Optimization for Teams: Settings > Apps > Teams > Battery > Don’t optimize.
- Turn off Data Saver for Teams.
4/ Clear Cache:
- Settings > Apps > Teams > Storage > Clear Cache.
5/ If Teams is in Work Profile:
- Open Company Portal and confirm compliance.
- Ask your IT admin to check if App Protection Policies are blocking notifications. If they’re set to “Blocked,” only your admin can change that.
6/ Update Teams and Samsung Software:
- Make sure both are on the latest version.
You can also look for more Troubleshooting steps for notifications in Microsoft Teams mobile apps here.
If these steps don’t work, the issue may be tied to Samsung’s One UI notification handling. In that case, you can:
- Use Teams on web as a temporary workaround.
- Or ask your IT admin to create a ticket to Microsoft Support.
I hope this information is helpful. Please follow these steps and let me know if it works for you. If not, we can work together to resolve this.
Thank you for your patience and your understanding. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to share them in the comments on this post so I can continue to support you.
I look forward to continuing the conversation.
