To block chat access for certain participants joining a recurring meeting in Microsoft Teams, you can use the Teams admin policies to manage chat settings. Specifically, you can prevent anonymous participants from using chat by configuring the Chat in meetings Teams admin policy. This setting can be applied to restrict chat access for guests or specific users during the meeting.

Additionally, you can enforce chat settings through sensitivity labels or meeting templates to ensure that chat is only available during the meeting and not afterwards. This way, you can control who has access to the chat based on the meeting's requirements.

It's important to note that these configurations need to be set up by an admin in the Teams admin center.

    Hi @Stephen Perez,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Thank you very for taking the time to share your concerns and requirements regarding chat access for guest participants in recurring meetings. I understand that there should ideally be an option to manage chat permissions more flexibly.

In Microsoft Teams, the meeting chat for recurring meetings is tied to the meeting series and its associated group. When a guest is invited to any instance of the recurring meeting, they automatically gain access to view and send messages in that meeting’s chat. Currently, Teams does not provide a granular option to block chat for specific individuals within the same meeting while allowing others to retain access.

Microsoft is continuously improving the Teams experience, and your feedback is valuable in shaping future updates. As a forum moderator, I hope you understand that I don’t have the ability to modify or escalate product issues directly. However, I strongly recommend submitting your feedback through the Microsoft Feedback Portal. This is the most effective way to ensure your voice reaches the product team and can be considered for future improvements.
