The "unknown participant is now joining" notifications for teams are pretty annoying, especially for systems where users by normal practice have different email domains. Really needs to be a way to mute these, especially for those who have been invited to the meeting.

Currently, Microsoft Teams does not provide a built-in option to mute or disable the notifications for "unknown participant is now joining" messages specifically. These notifications are designed to inform meeting participants when someone joins the meeting, including those who are anonymous or not logged in with a verified account.

To manage notifications in Teams more generally, users can adjust their notification settings in the Teams app. However, this may not specifically target the notifications for unknown participants.

If this is a significant concern for your organization, consider providing feedback to Microsoft through their UserVoice or feedback channels, as they often take user feedback into account for future updates.

    Hi @Matthew Wasco,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Thank you for reaching out about the “Unknown participant is now joining” notifications in Microsoft Teams. I understand how these alerts can feel disruptive, especially in environments where users have different email domains.

After reviewing the situation, I've found that at this time, there is no configuration available to suppress these notifications. They are intentionally designed as a security measure to alert participants when someone joins without identifiable details, such as dial-in callers or external conferencing systems.

We understand this may be inconvenient, and we truly appreciate your feedback. To help influence future updates, we recommend submitting your suggestion through the Microsoft Feedback Hub. This platform allows Microsoft to gather user input and prioritize enhancements based on demand.
