Phishing emails are posting ongoing events to my calendar based on the fake emails. I always report phishing emails but this has gotten totally out of control this month. How can I stop this?

    @Kathy St Onge

If your problem is the same as the one described in these Q&A post:

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/5597205/prevent-pfishing-calendar-items
    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/5613388/why-are-random-uninvited-meetings-getting-put-on-m

Microsoft is aware of the problem but there is currently no fix. There are no Rules you can create or settings you can change in the Outlook client that will stop these SPAM Calendar Events.

If you are in an IT Managed environment there are Mail Flow Rules that your IT Admin can implement that will block all external Calendar invites (with specific exceptions).

    Dear Kathy St Onge,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A Community. I understand you are having problems with phishing emails creating calendar events on your iOS devices. I am happy to assist you.

Please follow these steps to stop this issue:

    • Disable automatic calendar event creation from emails:
      • Sign in to Outlook on the web.
      • Go to Settings (gear icon) > View all Outlook settings > Calendar > Events from email.
      • Uncheck Automatically add events from email to my calendar.
    • Remove malicious calendar subscriptions:
      • On your iPhone/iPad, go to Settings > Calendar > Accounts.
      • Check for any unknown or suspicious subscribed calendars and delete them.
    • Report phishing emails:
      • Continue reporting phishing emails using Report Message add-in or via Outlook’s built-in option.
    • Clear cached events:
      • Delete the unwanted events from your calendar after disabling the automatic addition feature.

Important: These steps prevent new phishing events from being added. If the issue persists, contact Microsoft Support for further assistance.

SPAM Calendar Events - Update 2025-12-05 - Still an ongoing issue. No update from Microsoft on a general solution.
