I’m really sorry you’re running into this. It’s understandably frustrating when Word or Excel won’t open or show “Not Responding.” 

Have you already tried completely uninstalling Office from your Mac and then reinstalling the latest version of Microsoft 365? This often resolves issues caused by older or corrupted components. You can find Microsoft’s official update and download history for Office on Mac here: Update history for Office for Mac 

After reinstalling, please restart your Mac and try opening Word or Excel again. 

If you use OneDrive or any other cloud storage service, try pausing or quitting them temporarily before launching Word or Excel. This helps check whether cloud sync might be interfering when the apps start.
