Hi Guys,

For some reason the Surface App says there are "Potential battery & keyboard issues detected" but everything seems to be working fine. This error just showed up recently. Does anyone else have this? Should I just ignore it or contact support? I'm still under warranty.

There have been a few similar reports, so possibly a bug in the latest version of the app. Please use the Feedback Hub App to file a problem report.

    Hello there,

That Surface app message pops up when your system spots something off with the battery or keyboard link, even if things seem okay. This can happen after updates or if the app notices the battery capacity isn't what it should be, or the keyboard signal is spotty.

    Here’s a quick fix:

    • Battery check: Use powercfg /batteryreport or the Surface app to check if the full charge is way lower than it should be. A slight drop (80–90%) is normal.
    • Keyboard check: Reconnect the Type Cover, clean the connectors, and ensure the drivers are current.
    • Run Surface Diagnostic Toolkit (SDT): Microsoft suggests this free tool to accurately check the battery and keyboard. It takes about 15–20 minutes. Download it from Microsoft Support.

    Let me know what happens.

    Regards,

    Rez

I have exactly the same issue, Surface app version 75.11130.107.0.

Surface diagnostics shows nothing. Battery wear at 0%. Keyboard fully functional.

Any chance this is a bug in the latest Surface App update? Reddit seems to show a few similar posts in the last day.

I checked powercfg /batteryreport and everything seems about normal. Also ran the Surface Diagnostic toolkit and found no issues. I also reinstalled Windows, but I still have an error for the keyboard. Reconnecting it doesn't fix the error. I'm going to guess that the Surface App is broken because the error started after I did a Surface App update.

Same as well. Brand new only 4 cycles of charge and it appears not only for the battery but for the slim pen 2 as well

I diagnosed with the surface tool kit and still the same. I use the 80 20 charging rule so I thought that's the issue. I did a full 100% charge and the warning disappeared but only when I unplugged the charger and the battery consumption started to increase it showed up again

I am pretty sure its the surface app update
