Teams not recognizing Camera

About a month ago, the camera stopped working on Microsoft Teams. It works EVERYWHERE else, just not in teams.

I have:

  • Updated the drivers
  • Uninstalled and reinstalled drivers
  • Made sure all the latest updates are installed
  • Verified the camera permissions in Settings/Bluetooth & Devices/Cameras/Integrated Camera
  • Verified the camera permissions in Settings/Privacy & Security/Camera and teams is listed.

I attempted to uninstall and reinstall teams, however I was unable to. What my research determined is that since it is part of my Office 365 license, I can't.

I also went through all the steps for troubleshooting in Support, and it was unsuccessful.

Any ideas on how to fix this? It's REALLY frustrating!

    Hi EFlood,

Does the Camera work in a clean boot state?

Does the issue persist in a clean boot state?

Type “msconfig” (without quotes) and press Enter.

In the System Configuration window, select the Services tab.

Check the box next to “Hide all Microsoft services”. Ensure you do it carefully, and not disable all Microsoft services.

    Click on “Disable all”.

Select the Startup tab and click on “Open Task Manager”.

In the Task Manager window, select each startup item and click on “Disable”.

Close Task Manager and click on OK in the System Configuration window.

    Restart your computer.

I’m eager to hear back and work together to find a solution.

It sounds like you've already gone through many troubleshooting steps for your camera issue in Microsoft Teams. Here are a few additional suggestions that might help resolve the problem:

    1. Check Camera Configuration in Teams: Ensure that the camera is not mistakenly configured as a content camera in the Teams settings. You can check this in the Teams Rooms app settings.
    2. Camera Power and Connection: Verify that the camera is powered on and securely connected to your computer. If it requires an external power supply, make sure it's connected properly.
    3. USB Connection Issues: If you're using a USB camera, try unplugging it and reconnecting it. Also, avoid using USB extenders if possible, as they can cause connectivity issues.
    4. Firmware Updates: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your camera. Sometimes, outdated firmware can lead to compatibility issues with applications like Teams.
    5. Windows Camera Privacy Settings: Double-check the Windows camera privacy settings to ensure that Teams has permission to access the camera. You can find this under Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may want to reach out to your peripheral manufacturer for further assistance, as there could be hardware-specific issues at play.
