If the Discovery Agent is not showing up while the other agents are connected in your Azure Migrate appliance setup on a Windows Server 2025 physical host running Hyper-V, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue:

    1. Check Permissions: Ensure that you have the necessary administrative privileges on the appliance server to access the configuration manager.
    2. Verify Appliance Services: Confirm that all required services for the Azure Migrate appliance are running correctly. The Discovery Agent is essential for collecting server configuration metadata.
    3. Connectivity Check: Make sure that the appliance can connect to the necessary Azure URLs for the public cloud. If there are connectivity issues, the Discovery Agent may not function properly.
    4. Review Logs: Check the log files located at %Programdata%\Microsoft Azure\Logs for any errors related to the Discovery Agent. This can provide insights into what might be going wrong.
    5. Reinstall the Agent: If the above steps do not resolve the issue, consider reinstalling the Discovery Agent to ensure it is set up correctly.
    6. Consult Documentation: Refer to the Azure Migrate documentation for specific troubleshooting steps related to the Discovery Agent.

If the problem persists after these steps, you may want to reach out to Azure support for further assistance.

    Hello Gopakumar Sivaraman,

It seems like you're having trouble with the Azure Migrate appliance showing a successful connection for other agents while not detecting the Discovery Agent on your Hyper-V host with a public endpoint.

Could you please help us with the below details:

    • Are you trying to discover Hyper‑V VMs (agentless) from that host, or to discover other physical servers (agent‑based) using the Azure Migrate Discovery Agent?
    • Are there any specific error messages logged in the Azure Migrate appliance related to the Discovery Agent? If yes could you please share the error details?
    • Is the Azure Migrate appliance running the latest version? Have you checked for and applied any updates?

As per MS Support, we cannot use Hyper-v host as the physical appliance and it should be dedicated windows server without hyper-v installed.
