To add your Gmail account to Outlook and access the contents of your folders (like Inbox), you need to ensure that IMAP is enabled in your Gmail settings. Here’s how you can do that:
- Sign in to your Gmail account using a supported browser.
- Click on the gear icon in the top right corner and select Settings.
- Go to the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
- Under IMAP access, make sure that Enable IMAP is selected.
- Scroll down and click Save Changes.
After enabling IMAP, you can add your Gmail account to Outlook by following these steps:
- Open Outlook and select File > Add Account.
- Enter your Gmail address and select Connect.
- When prompted, enter your password and follow any additional instructions to complete the setup.
If you have already added the account but are not seeing the folder contents, ensure that you have set it up using IMAP and not POP, as POP will not sync your folders properly.
If you continue to experience issues, consider removing the account from Outlook and re-adding it after confirming IMAP is enabled in your Gmail settings.
