Hello @Stephen_pol,
Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A Forum.
I’d like to clarify how the Work Hours feature works in Microsoft Teams and Outlook.
Currently, this feature is designed as a recurring weekly schedule. It does not support exceptions for individual dates directly within the Settings menu. If you edit the hours for a specific day (for example, Tuesday), the change will apply to all future Tuesdays, not just one.
Based on my experience, one way you can try to reflect a one-time change, such as finishing at 4:00 PM instead of 4:30 PM today without breaking your recurring schedule is to use your calendar:
- Keep your default work hours as they are (e.g., 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM).
- For the specific day you are leaving early, create a Calendar Appointment for the remaining time (e.g., from 4:00 PM to 4:30 PM).
- Set the status of this appointment to “Out of Office” or “Busy”.
This ensures your colleagues see you as unavailable during that slot via the Scheduling Assistant, while your standard work hours for future weeks remain correct.
If this feature is important to you, I recommend sharing your feedback on the Microsoft Teams · Community
This is the official channel where feedback is reviewed by the product team and considered for future enhancements. Once you’ve posted your feedback, feel free to share the link here, I’ll gladly vote for it to help increase visibility.
Your contribution can help improve product experience for many users in the future. Thank you again for your valuable time!
Best regards,
