    Hi,

    Depending on your HP laptop model, you may have a privacy switch located in the same place as the camera. Slide the switch to the left or right to unhide the camera.

    If the webcam light turns on but no image appears, it usually means the camera is being blocked or disabled at the hardware or privacy level.

    On many HP laptops, there is a physical camera privacy switch or shutter along the top edge of the display. Make sure it’s fully slid open—otherwise the camera will power on but remain covered.

    If the camera is not physically blocked, please check the following:

    Windows Privacy Settings Go to Settings > Privacy & security > Camera and ensure apps are allowed to use the camera.

    Camera App Test Open the Camera app in Windows to confirm whether the webcam works there.

    Device Manager Open Device Manager and look under Cameras or Imaging Devices to make sure the webcam is enabled and doesn’t show an error.
