How to test camera using online Teams from vendor

How do I test a Camera/Microphone for a Microsoft Teams session prior to the vendor Teams appointment? I have tested my camera/microphone with the Camera App set on video and i am able to record a short segment confirming the video and microphone are working, but when in an online TEAMS appointment, the video was not seen by the individual who set the appointment, but could hear me. There were no system blocks that I could identify. Is there an easy way to test to confirm I have the correct settings for Online MS Teams functionality? Best Regards.

To test your camera and microphone for a Microsoft Teams session prior to your appointment, you can follow these steps:

    1. Use Teams Device Test Capabilities: If you are using Teams for a virtual appointment, you can utilize the device test capabilities. This allows you to test your speaker, microphone, camera, and connection before joining the meeting. You can complete a test call to validate your configuration.
    2. Check Teams Settings: In Microsoft Teams, ensure that your camera and microphone are set up correctly. You can do this by going to your profile picture in the top right corner, selecting Settings, and then navigating to Devices. Here, you can select your camera and microphone from the dropdown menus to ensure they are the correct devices.
    3. Verify Permissions: Make sure that Teams has permission to access your camera and microphone. Check your local privacy settings to confirm that apps are allowed to access these devices. Go to Settings > Privacy > Microphone and Camera, and ensure that the toggle is set to On for Microsoft Teams.
    4. Join a Test Meeting: You can also join a test meeting or create a meeting with a friend or colleague to verify that both audio and video are functioning properly before your vendor appointment.
    5. Check for Updates: Ensure that your Microsoft Teams application is up to date, as updates can fix bugs related to audio and video functionality.

By following these steps, you should be able to confirm that your camera and microphone are working properly for your Microsoft Teams appointment.

    Hello Mark,

Thank you for reaching out about testing your camera and microphone before your Teams appointment I understand how frustrating it can be when your video works in other apps but not during a Teams meeting.

This usually happens due to device settings or permissions within Teams rather than a hardware issue. A good way to confirm your setup is to use the built-in test call feature in Microsoft Teams. This allows you to check your camera, microphone and speaker settings in a simulated call environment. You can access this by selecting your profile picture in Teams, going to Settings, then Devices and choosing “Make a test call.”

During the test you’ll see your video preview and hear a playback of your audio which confirms everything is working correctly. If the issue persists it’s worth checking that Teams has permission to use your camera and microphone in your system privacy settings and ensuring your Teams app is up to date.

I hope this answer is helpful if you have further questions feel free to reply back

    Regards,

    Marcelo

This answer is dated and incorrect. Settings are no longer located via your profile photo (now in the ellipsis ... menu pulldown ) and there is no option for a test call under Devices no longer exists. If the only option is to test just before creating receiving a call... you're inconsiderate of any user who only uses team on occasion. We all don't live under your daily umbrella. Try Zoom and see how easy it is to test and verify one's speaker, mic and camera are working. Step out of your bubble please.
