Hello, I previously created my Azure account in the United Kingdom. I have now moved to Australia and would like to use Azure services based on the Australian region. Since the country/region cannot be changed on an existing Azure account, please guide me on the correct process.

Do I need to create a new Microsoft account with a different email for Australia, or is there an option to migrate my current account’s billing region from the UK to Australia?

    Hello Umar Farooq,

It sounds like you're looking to transition your Azure services from the UK to Australia due to your move. Unfortunately, you can't change the country or region of an existing Azure account. Here’s what you’ll need to do:

    Options to Consider:

    1. Create a New Azure Account:
      • Since changing the billing region isn't possible, creating a new account based in Australia is the straightforward solution. You will need to sign up for a new Azure account with a different email address.
      1. Migration of Resources:
        • After creating a new account, you’d then need to migrate your existing resources from the UK account to your new Australian account. This could involve exporting and re-importing resources as needed.

    Steps to Consider:

    • Back Up Your Data: Ensure you have backups of any critical data in your current Azure account.
    • Replicate Configurations: Take note of your existing configurations/settings that you’ll need to apply in your new account.
    • Resource Migration: Use Azure tools to assist in migrating your resources, ensuring minimal disruption.

    Follow-Up Questions:

    • Do you have specific resources that need to be migrated (e.g., virtual machines, databases, etc.)?
    • Are you familiar with the migration tools available in Azure to facilitate this process?
    • Do you require assistance with data backup or resource replication?

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have further questions or need assistance with the migration process!
