In Microsoft Teams, when you enable the Hide Attendee Names feature, it prevents attendees from seeing each other's names during the meeting. However, if someone forwards the meeting invite, the full list of attendees can be revealed to the new recipient. This behavior occurs because the forwarding action sends the original invitation, which includes the attendee list.
To ensure that attendee contact details remain hidden, consider the following options:
- Do not allow forwarding: When setting up the meeting, you can disable the option to forward the invite. This can be done by the meeting organizer in the meeting options.
- Use a distribution list: Instead of inviting individuals directly, consider using a distribution list. This way, only the name of the distribution list will be visible to the attendees, rather than individual names.
- Communicate with attendees: Inform attendees not to forward the invite if confidentiality is a concern.
Unfortunately, there is no built-in feature in Teams that completely prevents the visibility of attendee names when an invite is forwarded. The option to hide attendee names primarily applies to the meeting interface rather than the invitation email itself.
