Hi!
in edge and other browsers we are using Plantronics blackwire 8225 headsets.

it appears that using tools like AWS or ZENDESK or even calls through google meets (web applications) completely nullify the microphone background cancelling.
it ends up picking up all background noise from the office and making the person with the headset intangible.

we have checked the windows settings and played with that as well as browser settings and the issue does not occur on direct applications like teams or Slack.

I have also tried using third party tools like Poly lens but this has had no positive result. is there anything someone knows that help?

It seems that the issue you're experiencing with microphone background noise cancellation in web applications like AWS, Zendesk, and Google Meets could be related to the browser's handling of audio effects. While direct applications like Teams or Slack may have built-in noise suppression features that work effectively, web applications may not support these features as robustly.

Here are a few suggestions that might help improve the situation:

    1. Check Browser Support: Ensure that you are using a supported browser for audio effects. Noise suppression features are generally supported on desktop browsers for Chrome and Edge. If you're using Edge, make sure it's updated to the latest version.
    2. Audio Effects SDK: If you are developing or have control over the web applications, consider integrating the Azure Communication Services Audio Effects SDK, which includes features for noise suppression and echo cancellation. This SDK can enhance audio quality in web applications.
    3. Microphone Settings: Double-check the microphone settings in both the browser and the operating system. Make sure that the microphone is set to the correct device and that any noise suppression features available in the OS are enabled.
    4. Use of Third-Party Tools: While you mentioned using Poly Lens without success, you might want to explore other third-party noise suppression tools that can work at the system level, which might help filter out background noise before it reaches the web applications.
    5. Physical Setup: Ensure that the microphone is positioned correctly and not too close to noise sources. Sometimes, adjusting the physical setup can make a significant difference in audio quality.

If the issue persists, it may be worth reaching out to the support teams of the specific web applications you are using, as they may have additional insights or updates regarding audio handling in their platforms.

    Hi ,

Well, generally, since it's a USB driver, it has its own driver with features.

Do the following: access the start menu > settings > system > sound > scroll down to the microphone tab, click the arrow > the Audio feature should be there.

Remember that on the web, depending on the site, noise cancellation and echo features may not work because it depends a lot on the website.

There is third-party software like Krisp, and software with devices like Nvidia RTX Voice that uses an AMD GPU.

    Thanks
