Does Windows Defender/Firewall/antivirus guard against Tracking cookies?

I am using AVG Tuneup to enable me to easily remove surplus items from my laptop (Disk Cleaner/Browser Cleaner/Broken shortcuts etc). It has recently started warning me about tracking cookies being present on my laptop. Does Windows Defender/Firewall/Antivirus guard against these? Is the vendor just telling me so that I buy their antivirus product?

Thanks

Mike

Windows Defender does not specifically detect or guard against tracking cookies, as they are not considered a threat to your privacy or the security of your computer. Tracking cookies are small text files used by websites to store information about user preferences and behavior. While Windows Defender focuses on protecting against viruses, spyware, and other potentially unwanted software, it does not classify cookies as harmful.

If you are concerned about tracking cookies, you may want to consider using browser settings or additional privacy tools that specifically target cookie management and tracking protection.

Regarding AVG Tuneup's warnings, it is common for third-party software to alert users about tracking cookies as part of their privacy features, which may encourage users to purchase their products for enhanced protection.
