Loop workspace has no Delete option but Leave instead

Hello,

I have a 365 family license. I started using loop, make some dummy workspaces to learn, and now I cannot delete them. The delete option is absent; instead I have the Leave option, and that fails.

I tried an InPrivate window. Same thing.

I tried to locate the storage, it is not in OneDrive as documented.

Note: I started trying loop in 2024 initially. I may have old settings/config. Now running the latest Loop app.

Any ideas ?

Thanks in advance !

    Hi, Martin Leclerc

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Sorry for this frustrating experience regarding your Loop workspace. Here are some workarounds you can try to fix your situation:

Delete or Leave a Loop workspace (personal Microsoft account)

    What’s happening

    • Loop workspaces and pages now count toward your Microsoft storage and aren’t mirrored as files in consumer OneDrive.
    • You can delete a workspace only if you’re its owner; otherwise you’ll see Leave. Some workspaces created during Public Preview may have odd ownership states.

    Steps to remove dummy workspaces

    Sign in to Loop

    Check the workspace menu

    • Workspaces > find the workspace > select …
    • If Delete appears, select it and confirm.
    • If only Leave appears, choose Leave. If you get the “Oops! Something went wrong” error, continue to step 3.

    Fix the Leave error

    • Sign out completely and sign back in with your personal account.
    • Try Leave again.
    • If it still fails, use a different browser profile (not just InPrivate) and retry.

    Verify ownership

    • Workspace > … > Members
      • If you’re listed as Owner, you should see Delete.
      • If not, you can only Leave. If Delete never appears, the workspace may have migrated ownership during preview.

    Empty the Recycle bin

    • Workspace > sidebar > Recycle bin > Empty all

This helps reclaim storage because Loop keeps page history even after deletion.

    Uploaded files

    • If you uploaded files into Loop, remove them from OneDrive if they appear there. For personal accounts, most content stays in Loop storage, not in standard OneDrive folders.

Why OneDrive didn’t show your workspace

Loop uses its own container for personal accounts, so workspaces aren’t stored as regular OneDrive folders. That’s expected after the mid-2024 changes.

If you still can’t leave after these steps, use the Loop app’s Feedback option and include the error screenshot. Some preview-era workspaces require backend cleanup.

Hope this helps. Feel free to get back if you need further assistance.
