Hi Channels, Nila,
Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Forum. I understand you're facing the gray page with the small frowny-face box in Edge crashed. Please try:
- Press
Ctrl+Pto open Print. If it opens, try “Save as PDF” to capture your current view. - Press
Ctrl+Shift+Sto trigger Web Capture (Edge’s snipping tool). If it appears, screenshot the annotated area. - Press
Ctrl+Sfor Save orCtrl+Shift+Sfor Save As (sometimes the shortcut still works even when clicks don’t).
Unsaved ink annotations in Edge are held in memory until you press Save/Save As. When the renderer crashes, unsaved ink is typically lost. Edge does not auto-save ink to the original PDF unless you explicitly save. I know that’s frustrating but you can try those recommendations to prevent this happening again. Update Edge to the latest build and Disable hardware acceleration (common PDF/ink renderer fix). Also, go to edge://extensions > toggle off all extensions and retest. Finally, create a new Edge profile, open the same PDF, and test drawing. Profile corruption can cause viewer crashes.
