If you are receiving a bill for a resource group that you cannot see, there are a few steps you can take to address this issue:

    1. Check for Hidden Resources: Sometimes resources may not be visible due to permissions or filters applied in the Azure portal. Ensure that you have the correct permissions and that you are viewing the correct subscription and resource group.
    2. Delete Unwanted Resources: To prevent unwanted charges, you can delete the resources associated with the subscription. Go to the Resources menu for the subscription, select the resources you want to delete, and then choose Delete. This will effectively make the subscription an empty container with no charges.
    3. Review Billing Accounts: As a Global Administrator, you should have access to view all billing accounts. Ensure that you have elevated access to manage billing accounts to view invoices and charges for all individual billing accounts created in your organization.
    4. Contact Support: If you are still unable to identify the resources causing the charges, consider reaching out to Azure support for assistance. They can help you investigate the billing issue and identify any hidden resources.

By following these steps, you should be able to manage the billing and potentially eliminate charges for resources you cannot see.

Hi rahulddeshmukh, Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Q&A forum

    Recommended Approach:

Verify Hidden or Locked Resources: Some resources or resource groups may be hidden due to lack of visibility permissions, resource locks, or they might be managed by other resources. Ensure that no resource locks are applied to the resource group, as these can prevent deletion.

    Refer document: https://learn.microsoft.com/mt-mt/azure/azure-resource-manager/management/lock-resources?tabs=json

    • you can identify the specific resources or resource groups causing billing through Azure Cost Management + Billing in the portal
    • Check with Cost Management + Billing > Cost Analysis to identify which resource groups or subscriptions are incurring charges. Assign yourself Billing Reader or Owner role on the billing account or subscription, as billing roles are separate from resource owner roles.
    • From there, make sure to use the Cost by resource view to see costs broken down by each resource.

    Refer document: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/cost-management-billing/costs/quick-acm-cost-analysis

Delete by Correct Permissions: To delete a resource group, you only need the delete permission on the resource group itself. You do not need individual permissions on resources inside it. Use Azure CLI or PowerShell to explicitly delete the resource group if it appears in your subscription but not in the portal.

Refer document to delete the resource group causing billing: https://learn.microsoft.com/mt-mt/azure/azure-resource-manager/management/delete-resource-group?tabs=azure-powershell
