Why is there no button to save all attachments from the new outlook app on windows 11

There is no option to save every attachment to the message. Every guide I find is outdated, and the only option to mass save is through OneDrive. This is extremely inconvenient and heavily disrupting my workflow towards the end of the semester. If I try to drag and drop the files from one monitor into files on the other they all have the same file name and there is no option to automatically change them. This seems like the most basic piece of user functionality that you would want with an email service.

The new Outlook app on Windows 11 may not have a dedicated button to save all attachments directly due to changes in functionality and user interface design. In previous versions of Outlook, users could save all attachments at once, but this feature may have been altered or removed in the newer app. Currently, users are often directed to use OneDrive for saving attachments, which can be inconvenient for those who prefer local storage or need to save multiple files quickly.

If you are experiencing issues with dragging and dropping files where they all have the same file name, this is a common limitation when saving multiple files with identical names. Unfortunately, the app does not automatically rename files during this process, which can disrupt workflows, especially during busy periods like the end of the semester.

For the most effective use of attachments in the new Outlook app, consider checking for any updates or feature enhancements that may address these concerns in future releases or exploring alternative methods for managing attachments, such as saving them individually or using a different email client that supports bulk saving of attachments more effectively.

    Hi Bonasera, Gabby,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A Forum. I understand that the "Save All" attachments option appears to be missing in your New Outlook application, and you are encountering issues with file naming when dragging attachments.

In the New Outlook, the "Download All" or "Save All" button is typically located under the file preview, next to the "Save to OneDrive" option.

Here is a test picture from the New Outlook on Windows 11 Home Edition 25H2 showing the location:

If your interface looks different, please kindly attach a screenshot of what you see so we can investigate further.

Note: Please remember to cover all your sensitive and personal info (email addresses, names) since this is a public forum.

If you need the specific "Save All Attachments" dialog box that lets you pick a specific folder path and rename files (like in the previous version), the New Outlook does not yet fully support this workflow.

To finish your semester work efficiently, I recommend you toggle off the button in the top right corner to Return to Classic Outlook. This will restore the robust file handling features you need right now. You can switch back to the New version later if you wish.

You also mentioned that dragging files results in naming errors. The workaround for this is to avoid dragging them all at once and instead drag them one by one to your desktop. Dragging them individually forces the system to use the specific, correct file name rather than a generic batch name.

The initial response might not address the problem. So, if your problem persists or you need any assistance, feel free to ask me by clicking "Add Comment". Thanks for your effort.

When I download multiple attachments, Outlook zips them instead of saving the individual files. This requires an extra step and is not very efficient. is there a work around?

Also, there is no "Outlook Classic" toggle switch. I am working in Windows 11 with the current Outlook version.
