How to get my Azure Startup Credits back

Hello MS-Community,

I recently had a critical issue with my Azure tenant where I lost access after accidentally changing my user type and UPN. With the help of support, I was able to regain access via tenant-specific login.

My admin account was restored by signing in as onmicrosoft.com domain user.

After regaining access, I re-added my primary email address (*@gmail.com) as a guest user and can now access the portal normally again.

However, a new problem appeared:

My Azure Startup ($1.000) credit eligibility is now gone.

Before the tenant access issue, I was eligible for the Azure Startup credit. Now, after the recovery process, the portal no longer shows any eligibility and does not allow me to claim or re-validate it.

This seems to have happened because the tenant temporarily became inaccessible or misconfigured while the user identity was broken. It looks like the eligibility state was lost during that time.

My question:

Could someone from Microsoft please check or restore the “Azure for Startups” eligibility for my tenant?

  • I did not create a new tenant
  • I am back in the original tenant
  • The issue occurred only because my admin account was temporarily locked out
  • I still meet all the Azure Startup program requirements

If necessary, I can provide:

Tenant ID

Subscription ID

  • Any business or verification documents

Thank you very much for your help. I would really appreciate if the eligibility could be reactivated, as this issue was caused purely by the temporary access lock, not by any policy violation.

Best regards,

Simon

To restore your Azure Startup credit eligibility, you will need to contact Microsoft support directly. Since your eligibility may have been affected by the temporary access issues with your tenant, it is essential to explain your situation to support clearly. You can provide them with your Tenant ID, Subscription ID, and any necessary business or verification documents to help expedite the process.

You can create a support request through the Azure portal by navigating to Help + support. If you need further assistance, you can also reach out through the Microsoft for Startups Portal.

Make sure to mention that you did not create a new tenant and that you still meet all the Azure Startup program requirements. This will help support understand your case better and hopefully restore your eligibility.

    Hello @**Simon H

**It sounds like you're dealing with a frustrating situation regarding your Azure Startup credits. First off, I'm glad to hear you regained access to your tenant after the lockout issue.

    • Regarding your eligibility for the Azure Startup credits, there are a couple of key points to consider given your situation:
      1. Eligibility Loss: It seems possible that your temporary loss of access may have caused a misconfiguration or a temporary suspension of your eligibility status. The eligibility for the Azure for Startups program can sometimes be sensitive to changes in the tenant access or configurations.
      2. Restoring Eligibility: You might need to contact Azure Support directly to investigate your tenant’s eligibility status further. Since you’ve already mentioned you can provide your Tenant ID and Subscription ID, this information will be useful for Azure Support when looking into your account.
Here's a quick rundown of what you can do:
      • Contact Azure Support and explain your situation clearly. Mention that you temporarily lost access due to the admin account issues and request if they can restore your expected Azure Startup credit eligibility.
      • Provide them with your Tenant ID and Subscription ID upfront, as this will allow them to assist you more efficiently.
It's worth noting that eligibility requirements state you must meet specific criteria: being a new Azure customer and enrolling using a valid Microsoft Account. Given the uniqueness of your situation, approaching support is likely the best route. Here are some follow-up points you may consider:
      • Did you receive any notifications from Azure regarding changes to your account or eligibility after the tenant access issue?
      • Are you still signed in with the same Microsoft Account as before the incident?
      • Can you confirm that you still meet the eligibility criteria for Azure for Startups?
Hope this helps, and that you'll get your credits back soon! If you have any further questions, feel free to ask!
