If your shortcut keys on the iPad with the Magic Keyboard are not working, here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue:

    1. Check Keyboard Connection: Ensure that your Magic Keyboard is properly connected to your iPad. You can try disconnecting and reconnecting it.
    2. Restart Your iPad: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary glitches that may affect keyboard functionality.
    3. Update iOS: Make sure your iPad is running the latest version of iOS. Updates can fix bugs and improve compatibility with accessories like keyboards.
    4. Check Keyboard Settings: Go to Settings > General > Keyboard and ensure that the keyboard settings are configured correctly.
    5. Reset Keyboard Dictionary: You can reset the keyboard dictionary by going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Keyboard Dictionary. This may help if there are any custom settings causing issues.
    6. Test in Other Apps: Check if the keyboard shortcuts work in other applications to determine if the issue is specific to the Outlook app.
    7. Reinstall the App: Since you've already tried this, ensure that you completely remove the app before reinstalling it to clear any cached data.
    8. Contact Support: If none of the above steps work, consider reaching out to Apple Support or Microsoft Support for further assistance.

Additionally, remember that the Command key on a Mac keyboard corresponds to the Windows key on a Windows keyboard, which may affect how shortcuts are interpreted in different environments.

    Dear @Prince Jesudoss,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

We understand how important keyboard shortcuts are for your workflow. Upon review of your post, it seems that you have some keys that don’t work on your Magic Keyboard when paired to your iPad.

Before giving you the best solution, could you please confirm these questions below to help me diagnose the issue more effectively. Please know you’re not alone in this, and we’ll try my best to guide you through every step and get you back in control as quickly as possible.

    • Which version of iPadOS is currently installed? (Settings > General > About).
    • What version/build of Outlook are you using?
    • Do shortcuts work in other apps (e.g., Notes or Safari) when using the Magic Keyboard?
    • Are you experiencing the same keyboard shortcut problem on any other devices (such as another iPad, iPhone, or desktop) using Outlook? Or is it only happening on this specific iPad with the Magic Keyboard?”

In the meantime, here are some steps I recommend you try again:

Disclaimer: The link provided directs you to Apple’s official support resources. Please note that Apple’s content and guidance are maintained by Apple Inc., and Microsoft does not control or guarantee the accuracy, security, or availability of external websites. Any troubleshooting steps or recommendations from Apple should be followed at your discretion.

First make sure your iPad and keyboard or folio will work together.

    Step 1: Restart your iPad

Press and hold the top button until the power off slider appears > Drag the slider, then wait for 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device. > To turn your device back on, press and hold the top button until you see the Apple logo. For reference: Restart your iPad

    Step 2: Update iPadOS

Update your iPad to the latest version of iPadOS. Go to Settings and tap the Software Update Available notification. Or go to General > Software Update to see if an update is available. For more information: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Note: Magic Keyboard for iPad Air requires iPadOS 18.3 or later. Other Magic Keyboard devices require iPadOS 14.5 or later.

Step 3: Quit & reopen and pair the keyboard again

    • Quit an app by opening Exposé, then swipe up on the app. To reopen the app, tap it on the Home Screen, App Library, or in the Dock. For reference: Quit and reopen an app on iPad
    • Then, connect your Magic Keyboard to your iPad again. For reference: Pair Magic Keyboard with iPad
    • Check your Accessibility settings and make sure Mouse Keys is turned OFF. Also try hitting the option key 5 times.

Step 4: Clean the Smart Connector

    • Disconnect the keyboard or keyboard folio from your iPad.
    • With a soft, lint-free cloth, clean the Smart Connector on the keyboard and on the back or edge of your iPad. Learn about the Smart Connector.
    • Remove any other iPad case or cover if you're using Magic Keyboard or Smart Keyboard Folio.
    • Connect your Magic Keyboard or Smart Keyboard / Smart Keyboard Folio. If your keyboard doesn't immediately respond, restart your iPad.

Step 5: View shortcuts for the app you’re using

Press and hold the Command key, then tap categories below the list. You can change the actions that are performed by the Command key (and other modifier keys like Caps Lock). Go to Settings > General > Keyboard > Hardware Keyboard, tap Modifier Keys, tap a key, then choose the action you want it to perform. For reference: Use shortcuts on an Apple external keyboard with iPad

To use additional keyboard shortcuts, go to Settings > Accessibility > Keyboards > Full Keyboard Access, then turn on Full Keyboard Access. See Control iPad using Full Keyboard Access.
