context: I'm in office setting with open seating.
my colleague who is in the same teams call is sitting next to me.

when my mic is ON, and when he speaks everyone can hear an echo (except me ofcourse).

I tried Airpods 4 with ANC; wired (3.5mm ones and usb type-C ones).

I enabled Noise suppression (tried with disabling it too).

I'm on windows laptop:

    Hi @Raja Ram

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Based on your description, the echo occurs when your microphone is on and your colleague, seated next to you, speaks during the Teams call. We truly understand the effort you’ve made in testing different headsets and settings, and we appreciate the detailed information you provided.

This happens because two active microphones in close proximity capture the same audio, creating a feedback loop that results in an echo for other participants. Even with noise suppression and advanced headsets, open seating makes it challenging to fully eliminate this effect.

Here are steps you can follow that suit for your situation:

1/ Begin by ensuring both participants use headsets for clear and uninterrupted audio.

    • Ensure both you and your colleague use headsets for audio input and output. Avoid using laptop speakers and built-in microphones.

2/ Proceed by selecting “Join Without Audio” on one device.

    • If both of you are in the same location, have one person join the Teams meeting with “Join without audio” or immediately turn off mic and speakers after joining.

3/ Then, keep your microphone muted when not speaking.

    • Use push-to-talk or mute your microphone when your colleague is speaking to prevent duplicate audio capture.

4/ Next, check that your audio settings in Teams are correctly configured.

    • Go to Teams → Settings → Devices → Audio.
    • Select your headset for both Speaker and Microphone.
    • Keep Noise suppression set to Background noise only or Voice isolation if available.
    • Leave Spatial audio Off.

5/ After that, update your device drivers and Microsoft Teams to the latest version.

    • Update audio drivers via Dell SupportAssist for your Precision 7780.
    • Ensure Teams is updated to the latest version.

6/ Optional: Configure Windows audio enhancements for better clarity.

    • In Windows Settings → System → Sound → Input device properties, enable Enhance audio or Acoustic Echo Cancellation if available.
